November is the month during which Catholics remember and pray for the dead.
One traditional devotion is the November Lists.
A letter is sent home with a simple blank list inviting families to record the names of those in their family who have died and whom they would like remembered at Mass, in prayer, and at the Bethany Mass, in school each day during the month of November.
The lists can be returned to the school chaplaincy at any time and are added to a pile on or in front of the altar. In some places a purple candle is placed next to the lists (which may be in a box or basket) and lit during the daily prayers/Mass for the month of November.
The chaplaincy arranges for a group of pupils to remember all those on the lists each day in prayer in the chapel.
